Carlisle Race Track History & Information
On its present site since 1904, when it moved from another location near Carlisle. The course is right handed and pear shaped; 1m 4f in circumference with the last half mile up a steep incline. One of the stiffest racecourses the going can get very heavy in the winter. The fences are not the most difficult. In 1929 the Totalisator Board operated for the first time on a British racecourse at Carlisle..
